SENIOR STYLIST
Wanlu Xiao

Wanlu Xiao has been a professional dog groomer since 2016. She began her journey at The Pawsh Dog as a bather and quickly advanced to a senior stylist. Initially seeking a full-time job and being a lifelong dog lover, Wanlu decided to give grooming a try. Trained at the Taylor location, she was inspired by the talented groomers who transformed scruffy dogs into gorgeous pets, bringing joy to both the dogs and their owners. This experience motivated her to pursue a career in grooming and strive to become as skilled as her mentors.

Wanlu holds the Canadian Canine Intermediate Stylist Technician (CCST1 Intermediate) certification and is working towards becoming a master groomer. She has passed practical exams for long-legged and short-legged terriers, with toy breeds being her next goal. Wanlu has worked with all breeds and enjoys grooming terriers and poodles the most, as she finds satisfaction in highlighting their unique features. Her approach to grooming new dogs involves talking to the owners to understand the dog's temperament and adjusting her handling techniques accordingly. With nervous dogs, she is patient and gentle, while with energetic dogs, she uses a firm voice to manage their excitement.

The most challenging part of Wanlu's job is managing time and dealing with frustrating dogs. To handle this, she reviews grooming notes and past reports to prepare for the day, informs owners about potential delays, and adjusts her schedule accordingly. The most rewarding aspect of her job is achieving the exact haircut that pet owners want, despite the challenges in communication. Wanlu's favorite grooming tools are her slick brush and comb, as they make brushing efficient and precise, ensuring a well-maintained coat. She is also a dog trainer and hopes to help both dogs and their owners have a positive grooming experience.
